Golden Fans at Sea, touted as the ultimate “Golden Girls” celebration cruise, is returning in 2023 for its fourth voyage. According to People, Golden Girls fans can embark on a special “Golden Girls at Sea” cruise starting in 2020 where they can indulge in their favorite classic, 1980’s TV show featuring the sassiest ladies to grace the small screen.

The five-night, immersive cruise includes Golden Girls themed trivia, costume contests, bar crawls, beach excursions and more, and will visit Key West, Florida and Cozumel, Mexico. Themed cruises are all the rage these days, so it was only a matter of time before the girls got their very own. In January, Disney Cruise Line announced a series of all-new Pixar Day at Sea aboard special sailings on the Disney Fantasy in early 2023. The day-long celebrations will take place on nine select seven-night Disney Cruise Line voyages between January and March 2023 and feature themed dining, character encounters, dance parties and theatrical musical experiences. During the Golden Fans at Sea Cruise, guests will be able to enjoy karaoke, celebrity dress-up parties, trivia, celebrity panels, parodies, and more. “This year we are thrilled to announce that all cruise bookings include the ‘Shady Pines Beach Excursion’ in Cozumel,” Golden Fans At Sea producer Chad Kampe tells Hornet.

Almost everyone there (including me) nearly lost their voices singing out loud we were so wrapping up in the fun (apologies to anyone nearby without those headphones on). One major highlight of not only the final day but of the entire cruise for me was the 80s-themed silent disco. Guests dressed up in their favorite 80s attire and wore provided noise-canceling headphones. The headphones had three different DJ sets available to choose from and illuminated either yellow, green or red to indicate which one the wearer was jamming to -- and that makes finding new dancing partners a cinch. Our beach bumming day ended with an evening solarium and pool party back on the ship, which was certainly welcomed for soothing my sunburned skin. The first full day at sea included an abundance of things to do, starting with Rose's Saint Olaf Bingo (nope, I didn't win anything) and was immediately followed by a celebrity panel on the Golden Girls.

Each individual character brings her own unique and affable personality, and their unwavering friendships and love for one another are palpable and endearing. The show was not only relatable and comical, but it was also impressively progressive for its time, raising numerous social issues like no other show before it. Even though Sophia last wise cracked in 1992, Golden Girls has tons of fans who were born after the series finale aired.
